TUT to train Gauteng government officials for next three years

The Tshwane University of Technology has secured R20 million to provide training for the Gauteng Government officials for the next three years starting from 1 October 2017. This follows the announcement and signing of an agreement that the University will provide the Emerging and Advanced Management Development Programme for the National School of Government (NSG) in Gauteng.

According to Prof Stanley Mukhola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching, Learning and Technology, who signed the agreement on behalf of TUT, the move attests to the value of the University’s programmes in the market. “We would like to thank the NSG for entrusting TUT with the huge responsibility of offering the programme. The appointment clearly demonstrates that TUT is in a great position to provide the service. Under the leadership of Prof Mashupye Herbert Maserumula at the Department of Public Management, TUT will definitely do an excellent job,” said Prof Mukhola.

“The fact that TUT was appointed to provide the programme in Gauteng, the economic hub of South Africa, will further reinforce TUT’s presence in the province, while it will also enhance the awareness of the great courses offered by TUT. It is a known fact that many of our courses are recognised both locally and internationally and are held in high esteem,” he added.

The Emerging Management Development Programme (EMDP) and the Advanced Management Development Programme (AMDP) are components of the Integrated Management Development Programme (IMDP), which provides a comprehensive and coherent career development framework for all public sector managers and leaders. The EMDP targets emerging managers and focuses on exponential career growth while AMDP has been designed to prepare middle managers for the challenges of Senior Management Service.
