Yiba – Yee-bah (isiXhosa)
Verb – direction translation = “be”
e.g “Be more, be informed, be great”
Yiba is a student news website which focuses on the many positive developments taking place in higher education and training sector, i.e the university, college and skills development sectors.
Post-school education and training has gone through a tumultuous two years which has created a perception that there is little to celebrate.
Whilst there remain many challenges, the sector also has much of which South Africa can be proud.
The country’s academics and students continue to make headway in an increasingly complex and competitive landscape.
The intention is to create a portal that provides a composite picture of these developments. By doing so, it will demonstrate to website visitors, that despite its challenges, South Africa’s higher education system has much to offer.
