A chief financial officer, general manager public service and director of marketing are amongst the 100 most in demand occupations in South Africa, according to the Department of Higher Education and Training.
The list, published in June by the Department of Higher Education and Training, features occupations that have shown strong employment growth, experienced a shortfall in the labour market and occupations that are expected to be in demand in the future.
The list, updated biannually, also ranked other occupations as in the high and higher level of demand. Some of the jobs listed in the second most in demand category (higher) are:
- Mechanical engineer
- Early childhood development practitioner and
- Industrial pharmacist.
These occupations were developed from approximately 1, 500 occupations in South Africa. Among the 370 occupations that made it to the list, a business training manager, recruitment manager and health and safety manger made it to the third category (high).
