Nelson Mandela University fashion graduate Laduma Ngxokolo is collaborating with Sanlam, throwing into focus the potentially mutually beneficial and lucrative relationships that can be established between corporates and creative entrepreneurs.

A partnership by the iconic Ngxokolo, founder of the acclaimed fashion brand, MaXhosa by Laduma, with Sanlam, one of the largest financial services groups in South Africa has led to the introduction of a world-first – a wearable tech bracelet that is aimed at making saving easier.

The bracelet, Mna Nam, is a limited edition accessory made from acrylic and features Laduma’s signature bold patterns.

Sanlam is not the only big name to collaborate with Ngxokolo who is currently hot property with big brands clamouring to partner with him.

In a recent interview with Moneyweb, Ngxokolo said his uniquely African and authentic approach is what his fans, followers and corporate partners are drawn to.

“Being authentic and keeping it real is important. They are attracted to seeing what African fashion could be. I brought that to the industry and it’s what people have been waiting for.”

The Mna Nam cuff is embedded with a QR code that’s linked to the WeChatSavings Wallet powered by Standard Bank. At any time, the wearer can scan the code and save to the wallet.
