

All set for the I-SET Mobile Unit launch this Friday

Inspired towards Science, Engineering and Technology (I-SET) community engagement flagship project, submitted a proposal for a mobile robotics laboratory to the Sasol Foundation.
The I-SET Mobile Unit worth a million rand is a modified vehicle equipped with apparatus to conduct I-SET robotics workshops, as well as a laboratory to conduct physical science and chemistry experiments. The vision is to equip and to inspire educators and learners in STEM subjects. Learners in underserved schools have access to experience the Unisa Science Campus, and to be introduced to the diverse range of UNISA Community Engagement projects.
The Mobile Science Laboratory programme was initiated through partnership with the Department of Science and Technology as part of the initiative to use technology-based solutions to reach out to rural communities and improve delivery of education in schools.
The handing over ceremony and signing of the MOU between the involved parties will take place as follows:
Date: FRIDAY, 07 September 2018
Time: 13h30 for 14h00 (refreshments on arrival)
Venue : Unisa Science Campus, Block A, Thamsanqa Kambule Auditorium
The presentations and signing of the MOU will be followed by a tour of the I-SET Mobile Unit. Staff members are invited attend and cover the event.
