

Sixteen set to compete at the Unisa National Piano Competition

Sixteen young pianists have been selected to participate in the 6th Unisa National Piano Competition from 19 to 26 July 2019 in the ZK Matthews Great Hall on Unisa’s Muckleneuk Campus in Pretoria.
The competition consists of a Jazz Category running parallel to the Classical Category.

Competitors in the Jazz Category that were selected include Eaton Clapper (25, Pretoria), Tebogo Kobedi (26, Pretoria), Thabiso Mfana (25, Pretoria), Ntando Ngcapu (28, Pretoria), Obakeng Thamage (21, Krugersdorp) and Siphephelo Ndlovu (25, Johannesburg).
Competitors in the Classical Category that were selected are André Breet (24, Krugersdorp), Willem de Beer (27, Pretoria), Lourens Fick (28, Paarl), Sulayman Human (26, Dysselsdorp), Roelof Temmingh (23, Stellenbosch), Jacobus De Jager (22, Pretoria), Caron Tremble (23, Cape Town), Jolandi Schaap (20, Pretoria), Rosie Lemmer (20, Pretoria) and Lezanti van Sittert (23, Pretoria).
The competition starts with Round 1 of the Classical Category on Friday 19 July 2019, followed by Round 1 of the Jazz Category on Saturday 20 July 2019. Two separate juries will adjudicate the two categories.
Unisa sponsors the competition with prize money totalling R210 000.00.
