South African higher education institution Milpark Education recently achieved international accreditation of its contact and online MBA, from the renowned Association of MBAs (AMBA), confirming Milpark Business School’s standing as world-class provider of business education.
A first for Africa, the Milpark MBA is the only AMBA accredited online MBA in Africa and is the only MBA in Africa with international accreditation for both contact and online distance learning.
AMBA’s accreditation service is the global standard for all MBA, DBA and Master’s degrees. It currently accredits MBA programmes from the top 2% of business schools in over 70 countries.
On its establishment in 1997, Milpark Education – which today comprises six schools, including Milpark Business School – was one of the first private providers of higher education in South Africa. Today, it remains a leading provider of higher and further education, ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate level.
Milpark Education offers flexible modes of study: Contact Classes, Online, Distance Learning Online and Distance Learning.
Milpark Business School’s flagship qualification, the MBA, has been repeatedly ranked amongst MBA providers in South Africa by PMR.africa. In 2018 Milpark Park was ranked second overall in the public and private institution category of the PMR.africa Excellence Awards, after a survey conducted on business schools by business leaders from large and listed companies, national, provincial and local government departments.
Milpark Education is one of the six top South African private higher education brands that make up STADIO Multiversity. Other institutions in the stable are AFDA, the Embury Institute for Higher Education, LISOF, Southern Business School (SBS) and Prestige Academy.
STADIO Multiversity CEO Chris van der Merwe hailed the AMBA accreditation. “We place a heavy emphasis on curriculum development, ensuring our qualifications meet the highest standards and fulfil the needs of our students, the workplace and broader South African society. The AMBA accreditation is a welcome acknowledgement of our work,” he said.
“STADIO Multiversity has a holistic focus on producing graduates for the 21st century who are also responsible citizens in the world of work,” said Van der Merwe. “We’re committed to a better future for higher education in South Africa. Key to this is tertiary solutions that deliver quality qualifications in terms of both skills and jobs that meaningfully contribute to growth, employment and competitiveness.”
STADIO Multiversity was established with the goal of widening access to higher education and has a long-term vision of accommodating 100 000 students. STADIO Multiversity offers a diverse higher education curriculum, with access to 93 accredited programmes and another 64 programmes in the pipeline.
The AMBA process of accrediting MBA programmes includes reviewing the history and development of the institution; its facilities; teaching standards and research track record; programme administration, career and alumni services; student admission standards, diversity and cohort size; curriculum content and duration; and learning outcomes.
“Milpark Education is making considerable strides in higher education,” said Dr Cobus Oosthuizen, Dean for Milpark Business School. “We recently had our first Doctoral Degree accredited, the Doctorate in Business Administration, and the AMBA recognition is another milestone to celebrate, especially because of the importance graduates and the industry place on international accreditation.”
“The AMBA accreditation team recognised our best-in-class online learning model, excellent parent-institution support and rigorous assessment standards,” said Oosthuizen. “We’re really proud of this significant achievement.”
