With a following of close to seven million, the automated proofreader, Grammarly , provides most-needed grammatical support to writers across the world.

Language and prose that is easy to understand is key to building a career, improving grades at university or school, as Barbara Kingsolver writes: “A career is built one paragraph at a time.”

The service, which checks for more than 400 types of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, enhances vocabulary usage and suggests citations, is also very easy to use.

It is just a case of a “copy and paste” into Grammarly’s online text editor or you can install Grammarly’s free browser extension for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.

This means that wherever you are writing online, including Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Tumblr, you can correct mistakes in your text with a single click.

For premium users who want to supercharge their writing performance, three options to a paid upgrade are available.

This upgrade does the same checks as in the free version but comes with vocabulary enhancement suggestions, a plagiarism detector, and citation suggestions.

However, be warned, while this handy application is available for Microsoft Word for PC users, it is not the case for Mac owners who can only benefit from this service through the browser application.

Other benefits of the service include an online guide explaining English and style.

Grammarly also offers English aficionados regular grammar tips and discussions through Facebook and Twitter, and blog.
