An exhibition of Mandela University‘s second-year Architecture students on “Architectural Engagements with our Human Origins” is currently on display at Werk Workshop in Alabaster Street, Baakens Valley.
This collaborative project consists of design proposals for an Interpretation Centre at the Point Discovery Centre (in collaboration with the Point Discovery Board), in Mossel Bay.
“This high-quality design work was developed in the studio, stretching the boundaries of creative and interrogative inquiry into the spatial construct in a heritage setting”, says School of Architecture Director, Boban Varghese. There are six designs being exhibited through drawings and models.
The interpretation centre has arisen out of recent discoveries of artefacts made in a cave at Pinnacle Point that gives significant insight into human origins. The exhibition content includes large-scale physical models and graphic presentations.
